Panel Discussion 4: School Complexes – Way to Go
13 November, 1445 - 1545 Hrs; Auditorium, Ground Floor

After three decades India is preparing to embrace a new National Education Policy. Education as a sector caters to a quarter of the country's population and impacts virtually the entire nation. India now has near universal enrolment of children in primary schools. this has been enabled by expansion of the elementary schooling system by having a primary school within 1 km of each habitation. Though this has enabled access, it has led to certain significant issues and challenges such as economically suboptimality, operational complexity and governance challenge. To meet these challenges, the New Education Policy has recommended grouping of schools into school complexes to facilitate the sharing of resources and render school governance more local, effective, and efficient. The panel discussion in this session will explore the implications of this new policy and its effectiveness on ground.

Panel Discussion 6: Technology in Education
13 November, 1630 - 1730 Hrs; Auditorium, Ground Floor

With mobile phones and laptops becoming items on grocery list thousands of technologies are available for faculty, students as well as evaluators to improve their proficiency in teaching, learning and assessment. Also, the drop-out rates at the +2 level are quite high. A technology backed option may extend the outreach of education among masses. Flexible and self-paced learning options can also do the trick. However, can digitalisation of education be pegged as an alternative to classroom teaching? Also, how can education technology help in education research? This session will assess the role of technology in school education.
